The
People Who are owing Allegiance to Former British Rule must Know about the Great Famines
Happened in Bengal Region of British India( Includes Bangladesh, Bihar and
Orissa ) .
It is 1943, the peak of
the Second World War.
The place is London. The British War
Cabinet is holding meetings
on a famine sweeping its troubled colony, India. Millions of natives mainly
in eastern Bengal, are starving. Leopold Amery, secretary
of state for India, and Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell, soon to be appointed the new viceroy of India, are
deliberating how to ship more food to the colony. But the irascible Prime
Minister Winston
Churchill is coming in their way.
"Apparently it is more important to save the Greeks and liberated countries than the Indians and there is reluctance either to provide shipping or to reduce stocks in this country," writes Sir Wavell in his account of the meetings. Mr Amery is more direct. "Winston may be right in saying that the starvation of anyhow under-fed Bengalis is less serious than sturdy Greeks, but he makes no sufficient allowance for the sense of Empire responsibility in this country," he writes.
Around Three Millions of People Died in this
Famine of 1943. This famine Happened not
due to the Lack of Good Harvest. This Famine is Conciously made By the British
Imperialists. Bengal Region Got a good harvest in the year of 1942. But the
Churchill’s British Government Starved India.
This Scarcity was Caused by the Large Scale
Exports of Rice and Wheat grains to the
Warfields and Consumption Of
Britain. Around 70000 Tonnes of Rice Exported From India From January 1943 to
july 1943. This Would have kept more than 4 million people alive for a full
year. Also Japan Captured Burma (
Myanmar ) at that time . Japanese force cut the Supply lines to India. This
is also leads to the Great Famine. Once a Time Nethaji Offered to give grains
to Bengal but the Bengal Provincial Government Denied this offer.
Hitler Took 13 Years for the Holocaust of 60 millions of Jews in
Europe. But Churchill killed 3 miliion people in a Year.
History always Praising about the Allied
Powers. But the History Conciously Forgot to record about the Holocaust done by
the Allied powers ( ie , Stalin’s
Ethnic Cleansing of Ukranians etc ).
Unfortunately the Indian History also given a
less importance to this holocaust. This incident has noted in a small paragraph
in some history text books.
Till now Indian Government never asked to
British Government to give apology for this holocaust. Indian History always
praising about Congress . why the
historians are not giving much importance to this Brutal acts of British
Government.
