27th July 2015 India went to Sleep with a sad news, India lost her
Missile man and 11th President Dr.
APJ Abdul Kalam.

P J Abdul Kalam A/s Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu,
His father Jainulabdeen was a boat
driver. He was from a poor back ground.he worked as a newspaper boy in
Rameshwaram for contributing an income to his father. After completing the
studies from Ramanathapuram Schwartz
Metriculation School he went to St.Joseph College,Thiruchirapally for the
graduation , he graduated in Physics in 1954.after the graduation he went to
Madras Institute of Technology for studying aerospace Engineering.
After
Completing his engineering he attended an interview for pilot. but he failed in
the interview. He written about this incident in his autobiography “Wings of fire”. He was depressed so
much and after that he heard a speech of a saint. this speech turned his life.
after that he joined Defence Research
and Development Organisation (DRDO) as
a Scientist.
In
1969 Kalam Transferred to Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) for the SLV programme. He was the Project
director for the first Satellite
Launching Vehicle (SLV111) which deployed Rohini in earth orbit in 1980. Between the 1970s and 1990s, Kalam made an effort to develop the Polar
Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV) and SLV-III
projects, both of which proved to be successful. During 1982-83 Ministry of
Defence Started a project Integrated Guided Missile Development
Programme(IGMDP) which Kalam as
Chief executive. Kalm played a major role in the development of the missiles Agni and Prithvi under IGMDP. Due to these projects he called as the Missile
Man of India.
He served as a Chief Scientific Advisor to prime minister and
the secretary of DRDO during the year 1992 to 1999, He was the Chief Project
Coordinator for the Second Nuclear test Smiling Buddha at Pokharan.
1n 2002 he elected as 11th President of India as
the successor of Mr.K R Narayanan, both the Ruling party BJP and opposition
Congress supported him and he beat Captain Lakshmi a former INA leader. He Served
as President of India Up to 2007 July.
After the Presidency he served as the visiting Professor in
Various IIT’s . In 27 july he passed away with a heart attack in a speech at
IIM Shillong Meghalaya.
Government of India Honoured him Padmabhushan in 1981, Padmavibhushan in 1990 and he received
the biggest civilian award Bharat Ratna
in 1997 and he received honorary doctorates of around 40 universities.
